Fanboys Debate
If you observe any conversion that has to do with operating systems, you will always see the fanboys come out of the woodwork with biased opinions based on trendy notions that are backed by no facts that they can actually provide. I find this irritating.
You get the mac guys who say absurd things like "theres no such thing as viruses for macs" and possibly the worse operating system defense ever: "they look better!" As if thats really something worthy to base your argument on, little alone defend an operating system with.
Then the linux guys jump in with "well linux doesn't crash, and you never have to restart it!" along with "linux uses less memory and is faster", and the one that I always laugh at is the ever so popular "linux is easier to use." Yeah, ok. Thats like a brain surgeon telling a plumber how easy it is to remove a meningioma after performing a craniotomy.
Meanwhile the windows guys typically remain quiet unless they're gamers, then they will chime in with a response like "<expletive> you, my pc will pwn ur mac yo..... let see u play crysis on that peece of <expletive>!". As if thats not flavorful enough of a statement, they will often times add in some personal insults to ensure their point of dominance is made.
The thing that all these fanboys have in common is that they want something to be undeniably true (e.g. their OS is the best), so they ignore all the downfalls and fill the void with false positives to try and prove their point. This goes for all fanboys from mac, windows, linux, and unix. They basically have the mentality of "I want it to be true, so it is true." So the next time someone is trying to pursuade you to their side of the argument, take their "facts" with a grain of salt. Except of course this article series. :p
Up Next..
In the next part of this series I will discuss the security aspects of each operating system and set straight some false notions. Subscribe to my RSS Feed to keep updated with the rest of this series!
